Believe me, I have heard it all.
For more years than I care to admit I have transcribed recordings on a wide variety of topics including law, medicine, academics, business, chess, cryptography, the Court of Louis XIV, rocket science, neuroscience, advertising, design, finance, physics, psychoanalysis, sports, Hollywood, the Holocaust, high-tech, true crime, and gossip I will take to my grave.
My assurance to you: My work is fast and accurate. My command of English (vocabulary, syntax, punctuation) is comprehensive. And after all these years, I know at least a little about a lot, so my work doesn’t read as if I transcribed it phonetically (if you get my drift). Because I’m interested, I always research that which I do not understand, and if it is on the Internet, I will find it (on my own time). My goal is your business, and vice versa.
The basic transcription rate: 1 hour audio = 4 hours of my time (x $30/hour) = $120
There are several variables, however, that will have an impact on the cost of a job, including the clarity of the recording, the number of speakers, accents, the required turnaround time, weekend work, and whether you want the text polished or precisely as spoken.
